Bernie Klouda was a fifth-generation Alaskanāhe graduated from Anchorage West High School in 1964 and from the University of Montana Pharmacy School in 1974 after serving in the U.S. Army. He opened Bernieās Pharmacy in 1980 as a part of a vision to maintain a professional atmosphere and to provide services that were beyond the scope of the āChainā Pharmacy. He took particular care in developing a business that patients felt comfortable with and confident about the continuity of care that the Pharmacy provided after visiting their Doctor. Over the years, Bernie has provided the opportunity for Pharmacy students to complete their intern rotations at Bernieās Pharmacy, mentoring many Pharmacy students and new Pharmacists.
Today, Bernieās legacy is alive and well thanks to the establishment of The Klouda Foundation. Since 2015, pharmacy students have benefited from scholarships. Bernieās Pharmacy also gives back to the Anchorage community, supporting the American Cancer Society, the Jewish Cultural Center, Rotary International, and other community organizations. Bernieās Pharmacy is a mentor and preceptor to pharmacy students, and his vision and legacy are further maintained through our ongoing relationship with the College of Pharmacy at University of Alaska Anchorage.
